The boat

An Indonesian phinisi sailing yacht made for diving

Built in South Sulawesi in 2008, Mari is a 30 m Indonesian phinisi sailing yacht liveaboard, constructed from ironwood and teak and set up for serious diving. She carries just 14 guests in seven sea-view ensuite cabins, all on the main deck.

Three dive staff, three tenders and nitrox on board support the dive program, with groups kept to a maximum of four divers per guide. Fourteen crew look after a maximum of 14 guests, keeping service personal without making the boat feel formal.

Life between dives

Much of a liveaboard journey happens above water. Mari has four outdoor spaces, including a shaded lounge, open sky deck, forward sundeck and 50 sqm al fresco dining area.

The dining deck has a bar and 270° sea views. It hosts breakfast after the first dive, long lunches and sunset drinks at anchor.

Where Mari sails

Mari sails some of Indonesia’s top liveaboard diving destinations. In Raja Ampat, extraordinary coral reefs and marine biodiversity define the journey; in Komodo, current-swept diving can be paired with guided island walks for the chance to see Komodo dragons.

Farther off the map, Sumbawa and Triton Bay can bring seasonal whale shark encounters around traditional bagans. The routes also make room for snorkeling, waterfalls, beaches, viewpoints and other excursions ashore.

Who Mari is for

Mari suits serious divers, mixed groups of divers and non-divers, and travelers who want to explore Indonesia beyond the dive sites. Snorkeling and land excursions can be part of the journey, while groups who want the boat to themselves can explore private charters.

The result is a boat that works underwater and between dives. She is capable enough for remote itineraries, small enough to feel personal and spacious enough for a longer voyage.

The cabins

7 sea-view ensuite cabins

All seven cabins are on the main deck, where natural light and sea views keep the journey close. Every cabin has private air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom and hot water, giving guests a comfortable place to return to between dives.

Deluxe Cabin

3 Cabins · Max. 2 Guests · Main Deck

Mari’s three Deluxe Cabins can be arranged as a double or a twin. Two of the three also have a bunk bed; the third has the convertible bed only. Their flexible layout suits couples and dive buddies travelling together.

Each sits on the main deck with natural light, a sea view, private air conditioning and an ensuite bathroom with hot water.

Room to spread out across four levels

Mari is arranged across four levels. The sky deck offers open-air space with sun loungers and bean bags under partial shade. The upper deck holds the al fresco dining area, the sofa lounge beside it and the sundeck forward of the captain’s room. All guest cabins sit on the main deck, while the lower deck holds the engine room and machinery.

Good to know

Yes. You can charter the entire boat for up to 14 guests and shape the trip around your group, subject to availability, routing and operating conditions.

Mari pairs a serious dive operation with the comfort and space of a small traditional phinisi. With a maximum of 14 guests, 14 crew, three tenders, nitrox, excellent dive amenities and seven sea-view ensuite cabins, Mari is for divers looking to sail and dive Indonesia in comfort without excess.

Yes. Mari has Starlink Wi-Fi, with up to 1GB available free for each guest. Ask us through the contact form about additional data before your trip.

Yes. Mari produces nitrox on board through an NRC membrane system. It is available to certified nitrox divers at an additional charge.

Yes. Snorkelers and non-diving guests who want to explore Indonesia are welcome aboard. With three tenders on board, snorkeling trips and land excursions run alongside the diving rather than waiting on it.

All meals are included, along with drinking water and hot drinks. The kitchen cooks a mix of Indonesian and Western dishes, starting with a light breakfast before the first early dive, then a full breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks between dives. Soft drinks, beer, wine and liquor are available to buy on board.

Yes. Tell us when you book — allergies, intolerances or a specific diet — and the kitchen will plan around it. Dietary requirements need to be arranged in advance rather than raised on board, so let us know as early as you can.
